Our Restoration Process

01

Assessment & Masking

We inspect the hull under direct sunlight to map oxidation depth, tape off hardware, and select the correct compound sequence.

02

Wet Sanding (if required)

Severe oxidation and scratches are leveled with multi-grit wet sanding before compounding begins.

03

Heavy-Cut Compounding

Machine-applied heavy compound removes the oxidized layer, restoring clarity and depth to the gelcoat.

04

Medium & Fine Polish

Progressive polishing stages eliminate swirl marks and haze, building a mirror-quality finish.

05

Sealant Application

A marine-grade wax or ceramic sealant is applied to protect the restored gelcoat from UV and salt.

06

Final Inspection

We inspect every panel in direct sunlight and photograph the completed work for your records.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my boat needs gelcoat restoration?

If the hull looks chalky, dull, or whitish instead of glossy — that is oxidation. Run your finger across the surface; if it comes away with a white chalky residue, the gelcoat is oxidized and needs professional restoration.

How long does gelcoat restoration take?

Most boats up to 35 feet take one full day. Larger vessels (35–55 ft) typically require two days. Severely oxidized hulls with wet sanding may require an additional day.

How long will the results last?

With a wax sealant, results last 3–6 months in the Florida sun. With a ceramic coating applied after restoration, results last 12–18 months in full sun or 2–3 years under cover.

Can gelcoat restoration fix deep scratches?

Wet sanding and compounding can remove light to moderate scratches. Deep gouges that penetrate through the gelcoat layer require gelcoat repair (color-matching and filling) before polishing.

Do you service boats at the marina or do I need to haul out?

We are fully mobile and service boats in the water at your marina or residential dock. Haul-out is not required for gelcoat restoration.
